Latest Book News
After several months of not hearing anything from my publishing house, I got a letter from them this weekend.
Due to some changes in their staff and business direction, they had to make some choices to improve their "bottom line." My series was one of the ones they had to cancel. They assured me that cancelling the series was due to business reasons, not quality, and urged me to try some other publishing houses. Yes, I'm disappointed that this series hasn't been published after these last two years of waiting. But I'm not discouraged. Besides, it seems to be a "right of passage" for writers to experience cancellations, rejections, bad reviews, all sorts of stuff. There's another publishing house that sent me a "rejection letter" that included something along these lines: "We really liked your book, but it doesn't fit our needs now. Check back in a couple years (2005) as we may be expanding our line and would reconsider your series." This news also means I'll have more time to focus on co-writing the other children's book -- 26 true short stories about countries from A-Z. I'm really excited about this book and glad that I can put all my attention on it now. If anything, these experiences have strengthened my resolve to not give up.
